The Most Frequently Asked Questions About Out GEC Programme.

It is completely natural that anyone about to embark on a professional development course has a million and one questions they want answered before they begin. The students taking the Global Energy Certification are no different. Before signing up for the GEC, they want the who, what, where, why and how explained in full, with a few other questions on the side.

There is an FAQ page on the GEC website with a full breakdown of what people normally ask us before they start the course. But, if you don’t fancy trawling through all of that, we, the team at NRG Expert, are going to answer a few of the most pressing questions here for your benefit.

This is probably the most important question you should be asking before taking any qualification. What is the point of me doing this? In brief, taking the GEC is a way to enhance your career by expanding your knowledge of the energy industry. It is a tangible way to show the extent of your capabilities within the sector and is recognised and respected by employers. It also puts you a step above your competitors and gives you the tools you need not just to pass the exam, but to feel confident as a professional in the energy sector.

How Long Does it Take to Complete the GEC

You don’t want to sign up to a course that is going to take you forever to complete. Fortunately, there is no set time scale for the GEC, meaning that everyone can advance at his or her own pace. It normally takes around 100 hours to complete the course. Once registered you cannot take the exam within the first six weeks – and you wouldn’t want to anyway – and you must have taken it within a year. Exams are once a month so all you need to do is sign up for one when you are ready. If for whatever reason you cannot do the exam within 12 months then contact NRG Expert and let us know. We can normally accommodate your requirements for no extra cost.

How Much Does it Cost to Do the GEC?

One of the main concerns people have when deciding to engage in further study is money. The GEC costs £330 and this is a one-off payment. This fee covers all of your study materials, the handbook & study guide, payment for the examination and your certificate when you successfully complete the course. As the course is 100% online, you won’t need to spend money on relocating or travelling to and from and establishment everyday, making this a very economical choice of course. The only extra cost will be incurred in the case of failing the exam. Then you will need to pay £175 to re-sit.

What are the Entry Requirements for the GEC?

If you were worried that you might not be able to take the GEC because you don’t have a background in energy then rejoice. There are no requirements for the GEC, other than an interest in developing your knowledge of the energy industry. This makes the course accessible for everyone, regardless of their previous education.
